So someone on Facebook.com decided that this is “Facebook Doppelganger Week” whereby you post your “celebrity doppelganger” as your profile photo. Recent trends have been baby pictures and bra colors, and the next fad will be vegetables, chickens, or some other such nonsense.
And even in the aftermath of the horrible tragedy in Haiti, lots of news media sites (not blogs like this one) are reporting the Facebook fad as “news.” (I actually have a voice actor-related post for a cause helping to raise funds for Haiti which I’ll be posting separately.)
Nevertheless, I did find one such “news” post amusing — from Gigwise.com: Facebook Doppelganger Week – Rock Stars Separated At Birth, and a few of them are semi-related to this blog by way of celebrities who’ve voiced animated characters:
– Will Ferrell and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith
– Monty Python alum/film director Terry Gilliam and The Monkees’ Mickey Dolenz
– Don Knotts and The Rolling Stones’ frontman Mick Jagger
– Madeline Kahn (as Bride of Frankenstein) and troubled singer Amy Winehouse
– …and my personal favorite: Muppets character “Crazy Harry” and tabloid favorite singer-songwriter Pete Doherty.
This Facebook fad also explains why my own “Voice Actor Doppelgangers” feature has been getting unusually high web traffic. And let it be known that I was posting doppelgangers when posting doppelgangers wasn’t cool, as seen in these previous posts for Mike Myers and Hal Sparks.
I honestly had a whole series of these planned…just hadn’t gotten around to posting more of them. And so to capitalize on the spike in doppelganger search traffic here’s the newest addition to the series:
Separated at birth? Attack of the clone? Evil nemesis?
