Due to a blog publishing error, an article I *thought* I had posted Monday wishing Tom Kenny a happy 47th birthday (born July 13, 1962) did not get published after all. Tom’s birthday was to be the intro for a feature article with a news round-up covering Tom and a lot of related news on SpongeBob SquarePants which has flooded the web lately due to Friday, July 17th marking the sponge’s 10th birthday.
But just now reviewing my posts from the last two days, I see that the article not only didn’t publish… worse, the data is oddly corrupted (probably due to a computer crash I experienced around the same time) and I’m going to have to retype the entire thing so look for it to post within the next few days.
But one important news item from the article that can’t wait is VH1’s documentary “Square Roots: The Story of SpongeBob SquarePants” which features interviews with show creator Steve Hillenburg and nearly the entire voice cast: Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward Tentacles), Clancy Brown (Mr. Crabs), Mr. Lawrence (Plankton), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks), Ernest Borgnine (Mermaid Man), Tim Conway (Barnacle Boy), Marion Ross (Grandma SquarePants), Paul Tibbit (Momma Crabs), and series voice director Andrea Romano.
The one-hour special airs Tuesday July 14th at 9 PM (ET) and will repeat Wednesday July 15th at 4 PM (ET)… and knowing VH1’s proclivity for reruns, it will likely continue airing in perpetuity, so if you happen to miss the first two showings, check VH1.com for future airtimes.
VH1.com is also offering a “sneak peek” with a collection of excerpts from the documentary, including appearances by Tom Kenny, Mr. Lawrence, Carolyn Lawrence, Rodger Bumpass, and Andrea Romano.
